The first in a four-part post about my battle with depression. Part One: That crunch moment where I came face to face with my illness.
The real argument for why children with smart phones are just plain stupid
Kids with their own smart technology usually divides us into 2 camps:
1: Those, usually with kids, that say it’s the 21st Century and we’re giving them the head start to being the CEOs they were born to be.
2: Those, usually without kids, that say it’s divested the youth of social graces and imagination.
I am of the latter contingency. And it’s not just because they turn children into 1D drones- although Lord knows the amount of times my conversations have been disturbed by a noisy iPad in use by an a-social kid at a restaurant. Ps. I know it’s essentially no different to a colouring book, but at least colouring keeps them creative and it’s quiet! Anyway I digress…
Finding a good hairdresser is tough. FACT. But as a curly kella it’s virtually impossible. It took me 5 years to find my curl maestro, Michael Price, owner of Unruly Curls in Ladbroke Grove. I’m sharing him with you, because he’s great and I think every struggling curly kella should see him. I recently went to see him to get a much-needed haircut ( 6 months after my last one!) and asked him to share his curls of wisdom!
Relationship CV
Why everyone should have one, why prospective partners should read them!
Finding the One is almost like finding a job. You have a person/skills spec in mind prescriptive, most probably, to the T. The first date is like an interview and if you tick the boxes, you get the call-back for the second round selection- perhaps complete with a PowerPoint presentation or In-tray assessment. As dating is starting to mirror the job hunt perhaps we should invest in a relationship CV. The important document that contains those little nuggets of info that will tell you whether your new (candi)date will lead you to real love or a true dud! Sure a CV takes all that’s left of the excitement in dating, but I’ve seen some colossal break-ups in my time, most that could have been avoided if they had a little insight into their other half’s romantic history.
Anyway here is what I envision a relationship CV to be. I wish you every success in the future and no doubt your CV will be kept on file.
Historically it’s been women who have gotten men confused. When we say yes we mean no, a question is a loaded minefield and our emotions have more twists and turns than a velocity-fuelled theme park ride. I won’t refute those claims, we ladies are a complicated bunch. However our male counterparts can’t escape so easily…
As a child of the ’80s, it was all about curls. Remember Nicole Kidman’s luscious coils in Days of Thunder? Or Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman? These A-listers put textured tresses on the map!
Unfortunately for these ladies their curls are no more. However a resurgence of natural waves and textures has come about. Below are some of my leading starlets rocking curls on the red carpet both past and present. They are my own poster pin-ups that keep me inspired and confident in my curls!
